How To Select A Real Estate Agent

If you are going to sell your home, I recommend that you carefully select an individual Realtor to represent you.

The best agent to represent you will be the realtor that offers you the best information and services and looks out for your best interest.

If you want a realtor that gets your home sold quickly and for the highest possible price, I suggest you consider someone that offers you the following information and services.

  • Refers you to an agent in another city, if you are relocating.
  • Refers you to another agent in this area, if they are not the best person to help you.
  • Assists you in purchasing another home, if you are selling locally and will buy another home locally.
  • Takes a thorough tour of your home and takes detailed notes about your home.
  • Asks you to point out what improvements you have made since you have owned your home.
  • Asks you for detailed information about your home.
  • Asks you about your specific time frame for getting your home sold.

  • Discusses your options and choices in making your home available for showing.
  • Discusses what security issues to be concerned with when your home is for sale.
  • Discusses how you will get feedback after your home is shown.
  • Informs you on what to do to prepare and stage your home prior to a showing.
  • Informs you on what to do when your home is being shown
  • Reviews listings with you that did not sell (expired listings).

  • Reviews with you what happens when informed that there is an offer on your home.
  • Shows you a sample purchase agreement and the other forms at the time of a contract presentation.
  • Reviews with you any offers that are presented and gives you an estimate of the net cash proceeds you would receive from them.
  • Explains how you will counter offer an offer that is unacceptable.
  • Discusses with you different contingencies that could be presented with an offer to purchase.
