City of Raleigh, NC Real Estate
The capital of North Carolina, Raleigh, is also the 2nd largest city in all of NC and the 43rd largest in the US. Named for Sir Walter Raleigh and established in 1792 as the seat of government in NC, the City of Oaks as it is referred, is one of the fastest growing areas in the entire country. It is the home to a large number of both public and private schools, universities, museums, and outstanding medical facilities.
Part of the NC Research Triangle, Raleigh is a major center for biotech and high tech business. The arts are also an integral part of life in the capital city, and Raleigh is home to the NC Symphony, NC Theater, Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts. and many other arts groups and organizations. Sports lovers will love the vast amount of sports venues and local teams, including the 2006 Stanley Cup winners, the Carolina Hurricanes. Numerous shopping and dining opportunities abound, with several malls, specialty shops and restaurants, and chain stores all around town.
Mass transit makes commuting easy and the Raleigh/Durham International Airport allows residents the convenience of travelling the world. Future plans include high speed and light rails and a commuter rail.
